The wise words of Lao Tsu

*This too will pass * When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be * When you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to * Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage

Chinese Painting and Calligraphy..Very Special.

Today I was very very spoilt...again. Jess's husband organised another very Chinese outing for us all to attend. I met Jess, Nettie, husbands and kids in the square and we headed off in the car to go and visit a very well known Chinese artist called Mr Liao and watch him at work in his shop/studio.
It is fascinating to watch such a skillful art form being performed. The paper is made specially for Chinese painting and it absorbs the paint very quickly, this also must be taken into account as the paint explodes out into different shapes as it absorbs. Mr Liao wanted to show how he can get different effects using just black paint and water...the different shades seem to bring out the perspective of the objects and make them appear close or far away.

The Chinese Characters are written in running writing which is apparently even more difficult than the normal characters...

This painting he painted in a few minutes flat as a challenge... we had to time him :-)

So today I met a very talented artist and learnt a lot about a very important art form...

and was I going to say no when his son asked to have his photo taken with me also??"Get real" He is so handsome, don't you think?...I was more than happy and handed over my camera too :-)

and...can you believe this! Mr Liao wanted me to pick a picture from the ones he painted whilst we visited today and his son will frame it and they want me to have it as a special gift...How great is that! The generosity of people here is amazing.
I picked this one...I think it is beautiful and I will treasure it very much.
